BrandMyMail is an application designed to integrate email, social media, and branding. It allows the user to create an email template compatible with Gmail that easily incorporates a background, logo, vCard, social media links, blog entries, and more. It makes each email visually "branded" with the user's information at first look.Show more screenshots »
BrandMyMail was founded in January 2011 by Shay Rojansky, Limor Schweitzer, and Roberto Varela. The app is a product of Inovisoft LLC and is based in Funchal, Portugal. They believe this app will bring email into the next generation by integrating the social web. The small amount of available data indicates 1,000-3,000 unique visitors per month for the last 6 months.
The ability to add any social media to sidebar plugins and vcards, as well as a funny "advertisement" allowing donations via PayPal, make this an entertaining application. The interface is intuitive and very simple to use.
There are tutorials available, but initially it appears to be relatively intuitive. The user may choose plugins and then personalize them by clicking on the gears icon. The Signature plugin allows entry of the user's name, job title, company, address, phone, Skype, and links to social media such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and an RSS feed. The user must enter the links to all of these items. It also has a place for a photo and a banner. A user may choose whether to add a Google maps link, vCard, avatar (defaults to the one attached to the Google account), banner, social icons, or IM icons. There are no banners to choose from. Users must provide their own. The image plugin allows images from the web or computer to be added.
Fourteen designs are provided for users to choose from. The designs may be customized with any text color and one of a dozen basic fonts.
Five layouts are provided for arranging headers, footers, and sidebars. Users may view template ideas via a link to BrandMyMail's Pinterest board.
Once finished, the user simply clicks "I'm done!" and is then led to the Chrome browser extension. This must be installed for use with Gmail. The user should then test their new Gmail template by launching Gmail. Either "send" to use the template, or "preview" to view how it looks with the new template.
During testing, it was found that all of the sample data was not automatically removed from the template and the user had to return to remove the sample signature plugin prior to use. The app worked as described, adding the template to all emails from the linked Gmail account.
The free account allows one template, but it may be edited as often as the user feels necessary. Basically, if a user wants to design a "stationary" with links to social media and branding items such as logos and vCards, BrandMyMail works exactly as described. It would be nice to have some stock images and banners to choose from.
To sign in, users must use their Google Account. This sign in allows access to the user's name and email address through Google (Gmail). Once this is accepted, the user is taken directly to the application.
There are three plans to choose from at BrandMyMail. The Basic plan is free and includes platforms for Gmail , SMTP Clients, and Mobile Support. Gmail integration with basic plugins are also included. Support for Email and Documentation are provided. The Premium Plan, for 3 EUR per month, includes all of the above features, plus removal of BrandMyMail link from emails, support of multiple Gmail accounts and templates, a custom SMTP mailserver, HTTP API, Email branding API of 1000 calls per month, eBay plugin, Linkedin Signature and company plugins, Amazon plugin, Paypal plugin, and Viadeo plugin. This plan also provides statistics for sent emails, link tracking, and impressions. Support extends to Twitter and Priority Support. The Corporate plan is coming soon and has not been priced. It will include all of the above, plus centralized template management, shared contact book and groups, and the ability to manage a list of users.
Any person or business that wants to send emails containing instantly recognizable branding will benefit from this application. By integrating social media, it allows email recipients to follow or connect with one click and offers multiple possibilities for personalizing the templates.
